<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">小一時間の拘束から開放された生徒達は、止めていた息を再開するかのように、自由な会話を交わしている。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">ざわめきに包まれて静寂からくる鋭敏さを失った空間。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">その前方、教壇脇に設置された業務用ストーブは、今年一番の冷え込みからか、周囲に人垣をこしらえていた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">ストーブから四方に吹き出される熱風を、出来るだけ受け取ろうと両手を差し出すクラスメイト。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">その中で他に倣い手を暖めていた通訳の耳に、すぐ後ろの席での会話のやりとりが入ってくる。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">振り返り視線を送ると、男の席にやってきた男友が、無人の椅子を引っ張ってきているのが見えた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">「・・・ょいと席借りるよん♪え？あ、うん・・・米・・・もち米？」</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">通訳からは少し離れた位置でストーブに当たる椅子の主。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">そちらに許可を取った男友は、通常とは反対の向きで座り、椅子の背に腕を乗せて体を預けた。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">ほほえましげな苦笑いを浮かべながら椅子の主を一瞥した後、男は話を促す。男友はそれに応える。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">二人のやり取りに目をやりながら、通訳は少し前に友人のサトリが中華街の話をしていたのを思い出した。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">ストーブに群がる周囲の人の息遣いを実感しつつも、『そういえば結構本気で計画してるみたいでした・・・』と、一人ボツリと呟く。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">彼女の視界には、クラス全体の景色が男友達に焦点を合わせた形で写っていた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">空に溶け去ってしまった記憶を再生成するべく、天井と壁の境目の方向を見つめる男友。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">その姿を生暖かい表情で見守りつつ、友人が名前を挙げるその折々に、冗談めいた言葉をはさむ男。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">束の間の解放を楽しむべく教室から出ていく影。親しい者の所へ雑談の為に歩み寄る影。その他、人影は、１０分間の休みを思い思いに動いている。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">人影はどうやら、いったん外へ出ていたのが教室へと戻ってきて、たった今、教室後方の引き戸式の扉をくぐり抜けた様だった。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">通訳の視界の焦点は、そちらに合わせられる。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">――――廊下から教室へ帰ってきた同僚は、自身の席へと向かっていた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">　</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">「―――と、あとは裏新ジャンル連中、か。これで全部・・・――――――じゃないな。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">ほら。お前が参加させたがってた奴いたよな？なんだっけ？お前と小学校から友達だったって奴。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">指が三本たっている右手を軽く振りながら、男友がそんな風に言う。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">男はその言葉を受けて、ほんの少し体をよじった。教室の後ろの方にある同僚の机。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">そちらへ視線を送ろうとした男であったが、偶然にも外から戻ってきて席に着いた同僚と目が合ってしまう。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">通訳の視界の中、男と同僚は数瞬見つめ合っていた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">その表情は、どちらも伺いしれない。いや、むしろ、様々な感情が混ざりすぎていて解らないという方が正しかった。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">目を交わす二人と、それを傍から見る通訳。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">数瞬は、まるで永劫のようでいて、やっぱりそれは数瞬に過ぎない。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">十秒程の会話の空白には、餌を置かれればすぐさま食いついてしまう駄犬のように、教室のざわめきが割り込んできた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">やがて、無表情な奇妙な貌で、男は目を閉じる。そして体を元の位置に戻すと友人に告げた。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">口調は別段いつもと変わらない。万人が親しみやすい男という人間そのものの喋り方だった。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">窓の外側では枯れ枝の葉っぱが、憎らしいほどの青空を背景にして木枯らしに揺れていた。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">そんな空間を進む通訳の耳には、男と男友の会話が教室のざわめきに混ざって、追いかけるようにして届いていた。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">余分な感情を廃した上で物事をシステマティックかつオブジェクティブに考察すれば、まず間違いのない結論が得られる。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">という物の考え方が、素直クールが信仰する思考の形態であった。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">そのうえ、後になって思い出すと悶えるほど恥ずかしい行動だった、という事が往々にしてあるのだ。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">だとすれば何事においても、熱くなる自分を出来うる限り抑制し、論理と客観を頼りにするのがベストだ。</span></div>
<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">そうすればそれが、どれほど素直な行動であっても、全て許され受け入れられるはずである。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:#000000;">にも関わらず、素直ヒートが近くに居ると何故だか、それが気にならなくなる。彼女は間違いなく、周囲の人間の体感温度を上昇させていた。</span></div>

<div style="margin:0mm 0mm 0pt;text-indent:10pt;" align="left"><span style="font-size:10pt;"><font color="#000000">もともと飼育小屋で虎を飼ったり、一部奇妙ないでたち（武士とか軍人とか幽霊とか六甲の天然水とか）の生徒がいるような学園なので、校長が少女でも誰も疑問に感じないのだ。</font></span></div>
